Craig Bennett

Craig coached 5 IHSAA State Champions in the boys’ long jump.  He also coached 2 IHSAA State Champions in the boys’ shot put.  Craig coached 3 IHSAA State Runner-ups, in the long jump and in the discus.

Phil Hurt

Phil coached 3 athlete’s into IATCCC’s Hall of Fame.  His boys’ CC teams won 21 sectionals, 14 regionals, and 54 invitationals.  His girls’ CC teams won 14 sectionals, 8 regionals, and 33 invitationals.  Phil coached 12 individuals and 6 teams to the IHSAA State CC finals.

Damon Sims

New Albany

Damon coached 4 athletes to individual IHSAA State championships in boys track.  He was IATCCC’s Boys Track Coach of the Year in 1964.  Damon was also a former IATCCC Vice-President.

Courtney Adams

Brebeuf Jesuit

Courtney was the IHSAA State CC Champion in 1992, 1993, and 1995.  She was the 1995 IHSAA Mental Attitude Award Winner.  Courtney was the IHSAA State Track 1600 meter champion in 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1996.  She is the only girl in IHSAA history to win 4 State 1600 meter championships.  Courtney holds the all-time Indiana high school 1600 best of 4:49.03, set in 1995.  She was the National Indoor Mile Champion in 1996 with a 4:49.46.

Carri Long

Northview

Carri was a 3-time National Scholastic Indoor All-American in the high jump.  She was National Indoor High Jump Champion in 1995.  Carri was the 1993 IHSAA State Runner-up in the high jump.  She was the IHSAA State High Jump Champion in both 1994 and 1995.  Carri was the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award winner in 1995.  She was an Olympic Trials Finalist in 2000.  Carri was Big 10 Indoor and Outdoor Champion in 2000.  She was NCAA Indoor Runner-up in 2000.  Carri was a 4-time All-American at Purdue.  She has a personal best of 6’ 1.75”.  Carri is still competing and coaches at Purdue.

Tami VanSenus

Highland

Tami won the IHSAA State 1600 Meter Championship in both 1987 and 1988.  She ran a 4:55.24 in 1988.  Tami was All-State 4-times in track.  She was All-State 3-times in CC.  Tami was also All-SEC in track at the University of Alabama.

Dan Burton

Bloomington South

Dan won the 1985 IHSAA State Pole Vault championship with a new meet record of 16’ 2”.  He was 1983 IHSAA State Runner-up.  Dan jumped 16’ 10” in high school.  He won the Big 10 outdoor meet in 1990, while at Indiana University.  Dan was a 6-time NCAA finalist-indoor and outdoor.  He jumped 18’ .50” in college.  Dan was a 1992 Olympic Trials qualifier and now coaches at IU.

Aubrey Herring

Warren Central

Aubrey won the 1996 IHSAA State 110 HH title with a 14.13.  He was a 3-time NCAA All-American at Indiana State University.  Aubrey was the 2001 NCAA Indoor 60 meter Hurdle Champion.  Aubrey was a 2000 Olympic Trials Qualifier in the 110 HH.  He was a member of the 2001 USA Team in the World University Games and still competes in the hurdles. 

Ty Yeager

Floyd Central

Ty won the IHSAA State 110 HH title in 1993, with a 13.86.  He won the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award in 1993.  Ty placed 2nd in the 55 HH in the Big 10 in 1998 for Indiana University.  He placed 3rd in the Big 10 400 IH with a 51.8 in 1994.
